HTML Validation? Does It Help Or Hurt SEO?
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is all about designing your website so that the major search engines like Google and Yahoo can see your site better and in turn bring you more “organic” traffic for free. W3C HTML validation can be a useful tool in creating websites that are better designed according to W3C, but does it help or hurt your SEO?
My theory is that HTML Validation helps SEO and here’s why: W3C’s terms help you make your site valid according to the general opinions and W3C recommendations and other standards of HTML code. Validation of your site helps search engine spiders scour your site without errors. It can also help for multiple browsers to be able to view your site without a problem.
Because of this I try to design my sites so that they are valid HTML. It is also helpful to use a Firefox extension called HTML Validator. Note: you must have Firefox installed to use this extension.
So what are your thoughts? Do you agree with this theory?
