Getting your blog into Google Blog Search somewhat difficult, but once your blog is indexed you can count on extra traffic. You can set up your blog to ping Google Blog Search as the Official Google Blog gives you an option to ping Google Blog Search manually. I’m not sure if this will hurt your ability to get in because usually it is recommended to not submit your site to Google and let them find you, but at least they give you the option to manually ping them.

It can be helpful to get traffic to your blog because as more users tune in to Google Blog Search, your site will get more exposure - and this can lead to more traffic and sales.  As you start blogging more, your pages will be indexed in the search engines and this can bring more traffic.
