Affiliates Program @ Spread Firefox

Some of you may have seen the work I did last year on a project called The Phoenix Fox Project and noticed a rather large truck with the Firefox logo down the side.

I checked this group for the answer but didn't see it so I must ask: Where is the downloads list to track how many downloads were made? It used to be here but I don't see it anymore.

I like to try and make my site(s) and group(s) compatable with text-based, text-only browsers (for those who need it either out of need IE the blind who use reading software, or for those who just perfer text only browsers).

In the Affiliates FAQ there is section entitled "How do I earn Spread Firefox Affiliate points?", but it doesn't answer the question at all. In particular it should answer how one earns points with Thunderbird, Mozilla Store and SpreadFirefox banners?

After the new points system was put into place, I noticed that I had not received any new points for a couple days. I knew that the system had been changed to count downloads instead of clicks. I send thousands of clicks with the Spread Firefox affiliate links daily, so it seemed strange that not a single person had downloaded.
 

I checked my points today and I only have 653 points. However, I am in the Top Fox Movers with 1682 slots. How is this possible? Were points deleted from my account? I know that I have more than 653 points.

Suppose I have 3 websites, on which I want to put a link to firefox, and suppose I would like to know how many each website earned points. For the moment, I don't have the choice :

I put a button on my site, but how do I know if the ID number is mine.
Or do all the buttons have my number once I log in?

One week after joining Spread Firefox I made it to the Top Fox Movers on the home page, which is very exciting. I've been promoting Firefox for years and I'm glad I can now see how many people are actually downloading.
I love open source / free software and I'm happy to promote Firefox as well as other open source projects.

Is it possible to see more detailed stats, such as number of clicks, clicks and downloads by banner id... etc? It would be nice to see some details, but perhaps this is not possible with the affiliate tracking script that is being used. Is it a Drupal module?

i have firefox buttons in best places in my websiteS ! i could advertise something else and earn money but getting in top250 lists is ALSO GREAT too and it worth BUT

I think the rewards program should be broad enough to appeal to a diverse range of people. eg different cultures, interest groups, age groups, different walks of life etc. So to that end, why not outsource to one of the many companies that specialise in corporate rewards programs that can deliver a wide range of products and services to appeal to all kinds of affiliates? Diversity installs resilience and evolvability, which should further expand Firefox's market reach and ensure it's continued growth and evolution into the future.

Offering a t-shirt in exchange for points isn't very serious, and the top 250 links page doesn't count for much because of the nofollow tags. I think if you want to motivate existing affiliates and bring professional internet marketers on board you really need to provide a monetary reward program. Reading the other comments in these forums I see some people are asking questions like "what are the use of the points?" and "do we get paid?".
My suggestion is that affiliates should be rewarded an amount that's at least 30% of the expected 1st years average profit on each of their conversions. The soon to be discontinued adsense referral program for firefox / google toolbar combination seems to pay approximately 75c per conversion.
The payment isn't just about profit, but also about reimbursing affiliates for advertising costs in promoting firefox as well as paying due recognition to affiliates for sacrificing their precious time. A more reasonable compensation program is going to result in more time, effort and money directed towards promoting firefox.
Alternative ideas, disagreements or agreements welcome....

It seems like points in the affiliates program need to be improved. An idea I had was to have the points that each affiliate accumulates translate into some kind of prominence on the spreadfirefox homepage. For example, the affiliates with the top 5 amount of points would get buttons on spreadfirefox that are proportional in size to the points that they have.

I have been a member of Spread Firefox for 1 year and 2 weeks. I run a small, personal blog, with a daily unique hits about 250++. I don't blog about tech stuffs, but I'm heavily promoting Firefox there. As a result, I'm now gaining 700 points in the affiliate program.

I've been away for the most part, except for a brief appearance a month back. When I check in today, I see that the worthless ego "points" that I have earned has dropped to 19. Also, I am not subscribed to groups (which explains why the e-mail stopped coming). What's up with this?

I'm tempted to just test out some banners in widgets myself. I have about 20-25,000 users in a Hebrew translation widget for iGoogle, which could contain an especially nice group of potential new users since the Firefox usage rate is apparently low in Israel. However, I am concerned about the results of posting banners in small widgets.

One of the purposes of the new banner prototypes we've been testing here is to find ways to make banners more fitting for web widgets. Because web widgets tend to be limited in space, developers are more reluctant to fill widgets with ordinary web banners. It would therefore be great to hear what ideas everyone has to make more widget-y banners.

It's been pointed out a few times that we need more Thunderbird buttons (there's only one available on the buttons and banners page at this moment). However there have been more, so I took some time to find them and put them together in a page, with an easy copy and paste interface.

I have completed 2 working prototype dynamic banners and a generation tool that could be used for the SFx dynamic banner project. As Jeremy already published his banner generation tool, we now have 3 different approaches to the issue, which we can use as a basis for further discussion.

The primary advantage of such a web page applies to visitors of websites with "Get Firefox" banners who already use Firefox and therefore could be shown a different banner, most likely for SpreadFirefox.
